Russian Drones Enter Poland - Intermediate English

Poland reported that 19 Russian drones crossed its airspace. The Polish military, together with NATO partners, intercepted them. This incident has raised fears of escalation between Russia and the Western alliance.

Following the breach, Poland invoked Article 4 of NATO’s treaty, which allows members to request urgent consultations when their security feels threatened. Warsaw called for stronger defenses along the alliance’s eastern flank.

The drone intrusions are linked to Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine. Many strikes have already occurred near Poland’s border, increasing risks of spillover. Analysts warn that any direct attack on Poland could trigger NATO’s Article 5, requiring a collective response.

The situation highlights how the conflict in Ukraine continues to destabilize European security. NATO leaders are now debating additional military support and surveillance to prevent future incidents.
